How to Care for Organic Cotton Activewear
How to wash, dry, and store organic cotton workout sets so they stay soft, hold their shape, and last through repeat wears.
Organic cotton is durable when treated gently. A little care goes a long way. Your set will stay soft, hold its shape, and fit like the day you got it.
Wash
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colors.
Use a mild detergent. Skip bleach and fabric softener. They break down natural fibers faster.
Every laundry cycle sheds fibers from any fabric. Synthetic activewear is a major source of microplastic pollution in water (Aya Eco Fashion). Cotton sheds natural plant fibers that biodegrade — another reason to wash gently and air dry when you can.
Dry & store
Hang or lay flat to dry. If you must, tumble dry low. Heat is hard on the elastane that gives your set its stretch.
Cool iron only if needed. Fold or hang in a dry place between wears.
